Arsenal’s secret weapon? Partey discloses key factor behind title bid
Thomas Partey praised Arsenal for their resilience in their 3-2 victory over Bournemouth, as they overturned a two-goal deficit.
The game saw a thrilling ending with Reiss Nelson scoring the winner in the 97th minute.
This result has helped Arsenal maintain their position at the top of the Premier League with a five-point lead over Manchester City, and only 12 games left to play.
According to Partey, Arsenal’s ability to score injury-time winners in three games since the World Cup break is a testament to their fighting spirit.
“I think we have been doing this from the beginning,” said the midfielder. “I think everybody is ready to give their best.
“We know we have worked on every aspect. We tried to do our best in every game. At the end, we got the win and that is the most important thing.
“I think it’s another game that we were able to go 2-0 down and then we are able to go up and win the game.
“I think this will raise the spirit of the team and of the fans to keep on supporting. This is the football that we all want to play.
“I think the spirit of never giving up, the belief that we have in the team, the belief that the fans have in us, is pushing us game after game. I think we deserved every win that we had this season.”
Partey initiated Arsenal’s comeback against Bournemouth by scoring from a corner, although he refrained from excessive celebration as they were still behind.
However, he did briefly show a message on his shirt dedicated to his former Ghana teammate, Christian Atsu, who tragically passed away last month during an earthquake in Turkey.
“I wish I could get the chance to dedicate this [goal] to him,” said Partey.
“We all saw that we have to believe and I believe that I dedicated the goal to him. At the end, I am happy, I wish him rest well in peace.”
