Arsenal’s potential XI for next season named – includes four new signings

Arsenal has the potential to create an exceptional team by acquiring four players during the upcoming summer season…

After a successful season where Arsenal contended for the title, the focus now shifts to the 2023/24 campaign and the club’s summer transfer activities.

Several prominent players have been rumored to be potential signings for the team in north London. The Mirror has identified four individuals who, if recruited, could elevate Mikel Arteta’s squad to new heights.

Arsenal came incredibly close to achieving a memorable season, leading the Premier League standings for a significant portion of the campaign and coming agonizingly close to securing their first title in nearly two decades.

Despite a disappointing end to the season, Arsenal’s form faltered in the final weeks, resulting in Manchester City overtaking them and clinching their third consecutive league title.

Nonetheless, there is a significant positive for the club from north London as they secured a return to the prestigious Champions League. This achievement will enhance their ability to attract top-tier players to the Emirates Stadium during the upcoming summer transfer window. The addition of these high-caliber players could potentially propel Arsenal towards their goal of winning the title in the following year.

In the upcoming months, Arsenal is likely to focus on reinforcing certain positions within their squad.

One area of priority is the midfield, particularly with the impending departure of Granit Xhaka, who has been with the club for seven years. Additionally, there are concerns about the age of Jorginho and the injury concerns surrounding Thomas Partey, underlining the need to acquire quality midfield players.

The Mirror’s ‘dream XI’ analysis concurs with this assessment, suggesting that Arsenal should also address issues in both the defensive and attacking departments. By strengthening these areas, the club aims to build a well-rounded and competitive team for the upcoming season.

Take a look at the team below on your own.

Arsenal’s ‘dream XI’ for the 2023/24 season

Joao Cancelo

Although Ben White has performed admirably on Arsenal’s right side this season, it is worth noting that right-back is not his preferred position. If Arsenal manager Arteta decides to explore the transfer market in search of a specialized full-back, one potential option is Cancelo, who is currently available.

Arsenal continues to show interest in the 29-year-old player, who won’t be joining Bayern Munich once his loan period concludes. However, it seems likely that he will depart Manchester City in the summer as he has fallen out of favor with Pep Guardiola.

Previously regarded as one of the top attacking full-backs in the league, his ability to create scoring opportunities would pose challenges for every opposing team.

Declan Rice

There have been numerous reports suggesting that the West Ham captain might make a move across London, and Arsenal seems to be the frontrunners in securing Rice’s services.

Rice’s strong leadership qualities, combined with his defensive intelligence and technical skills, would make him an excellent upgrade over the departing Xhaka.

Acquiring Rice may come at a significant cost, but given his Premier League experience and the widespread recognition of his talent, even at the young age of 24, he is already regarded as one of the top midfielders in the league.

With Arteta as his coach, Rice has the potential to elevate Arsenal’s midfield to one of the strongest in the Premier League.

Moises Caicedo

Indeed, if Arsenal were to also secure the signing of Caicedo, it would undoubtedly strengthen their midfield significantly. The 21-year-old is highly coveted in the league, and his impressive defensive skills and passing abilities, which earned him a Young Player of the Season nomination, have garnered attention.

There were previous reports of Caicedo being close to joining Arsenal in January, and it appears that the Gunners are once again interested in acquiring the Ecuadorian talent in the upcoming summer transfer window.

If Caicedo were to be recruited and paired with Rice as the two holding midfielders, it would provide captain Martin Odegaard with the freedom to focus on attacking. This trio of midfielders would be a formidable combination for Arsenal.

Tammy Abraham

The extended absence of Gabriel Jesus after the World Cup was a significant setback for Arsenal. Even when he was in the team, his goal-scoring record in the league was relatively modest, with only 11 goals to his name.

The contribution of Eddie Nketiah, with just four goals, was not what one would typically expect from a title-contending team. This has led to speculation that Arsenal may seek to sign a new forward.

The Mirror has highlighted Roma’s Tammy Abraham as a potential target, with The Telegraph reporting that Roma may sell him in the summer to comply with UEFA’s Financial Fair Play (FFP) regulations.

Arsenal has previously been linked with Abraham, and although his tally of eight goals in Serie A this season is not particularly impressive, he had a standout performance the previous year, scoring 17 times.

Abraham also demonstrated his effectiveness as a leading striker during Frank Lampard’s tenure at Chelsea, scoring 15 league goals in the 2019/20 season, including a decisive goal against Arsenal.

Bringing in Abraham would provide a different option compared to Gabriel Jesus, and he could be a valuable asset coming off the bench for Arsenal.
