Arsenal to explore the prospect of signing Barcelona superstar in January

Arsenal to explore the prospect of signing Barcelona superstar in January

In January, Arsenal will explore the possibilities of signing Barcelona attacker Ferran Torres.

Torres joined Barcelona in 2021 after leaving Manchester City.

The Spanish winger struggled to establish himself as a regular in the Premier League, and with Barcelona’s recent arrivals, he’s been in and out of Xavi Hernandez’s squad in recent weeks.

Raphinha was signed from Leeds, and Ousmane Dembele has proven his fitness so far this season, thus Torres has played a supporting role at times.

Arsenal will now attempt to sign Torres in the January transfer window, according to  Fichajes, with Xavi not seeing the Spaniard in his long-term plans.

Although Torres’ time at Manchester City was not the most successful in the Premier League, the rivalry for positions made it tough for him to get a fair shake.

Torres should be afforded a reasonable amount of game time if he returns to the Premier League and signs for Arsenal, as they have a lack of depth out wide and their fixture calendar will be severely crowded due to European football.

Torres was a valuable asset for City, scoring 16 goals and providing four assists in 43 appearances.

He was definitely eager to return to Spain, as the great did not wait two seasons before returning. However, Barcelona benefited from this.

In each of his first two league appearances for La Blaugrana, the winger assisted a goal. He has so far contributed to 15 goals in 30 games for the club.

Torres started 16 of the 17 La Liga games for which he was available last season, after recovering from an injury sustained when he originally joined the club. He has clearly been a tremendous asset to the team during his tenure there.

However, rumors of a move elsewhere has not abated. During the summer, Arsenal was said to be interested in Torres and made a bid for him.

The Spaniard, on the other hand, has stated that he is unlikely to quit his current club anytime soon.

“An exit? I have just arrived at Barça!” he said, quoted by 90min.

“It’s a pride that a player like this [Lewandowski] is here, we already know him and we know what kind of player he is. There have been other signings, we are fighting to make a competitive team, which is what Barça deserves.”
