Arsenal suffer new blow as a first-team player is stretchered off during the World Cup break

Arsenal suffer new blow as a first-team player is stretchered off during the World Cup break

Young forward Khayon Edwards was carried from the field while playing for the under-21s today, posing a possible injury risk for Arsenal.

Edwards scored for the young Gunners against Stoke City, which resulted in a 1-1 tie.

In the last moments, however, young Edwards was taken down by an opponent and was unable to regain his feet, rendering the outcome inconsequential. Edwards was then carried off on a stretcher, in what appears to be a devastating injury for both the player and Arsenal.

According to Arsenal youth analyst Jeorge Bird on Twitter, Edwards’ injury put a damper on the proceedings. The teenager has just recovered from a second injury and is expected to play a significant role in Arsenal’s future.

Indeed, he has played for the first squad already this season. He was named to the Europa League squads to face Bodo Glimt and PSV, and there were rumors that he was in Arteta’s sights before the Leeds match.

Despite not having played under Mikel Arteta, Edwards is viewed as a player of the future. The 19-year-old, like so many others at London Colney, is well regarded.

This scenario is a nightmare for every young player. Edwards will be devastated after being carried off the field on a stretcher when he is aiming to make the first team.

There is currently no information regarding the nature of the injury. However, the stretcher was present, which is often not a good sign for any player.

Edwards and Arsenal must now endure an anxious wait. If the injury is severe, the youngster will be utterly devastated. After scoring, he was just getting involved and must have felt good.

Hopefully, the stretcher was a precaution rather than an absolute necessity.
