Arsenal suffer huge blow ahead of Everton clash with player ruled out through injury

Emile Smith-Rowe has been ruled out of Arsenal’s Premier League match against Everton.

Saturday’s match against Sean Dyche’s Everton will be an opportunity for the Gunners to get back on track.

With a game in hand, Mikel Arteta’s squad currently leads the Premier League by five points over Manchester City, the defending champions. However, in their most recent FA Cup match, Arsenal was defeated by City.

However, there are 18 positions and 35 points separating Arsenal from their competitors.  Frank Lampard has lost his job due to Everton’s current four-game losing streak.

However, Dyche received a boost for his first game in charge of Everton, as Smith Rowe was deemed unfit to play for Arsenal.

Arteta confirmed Smith Rowe would be unable to play at Goodison Park against Everton.

The 22-year-old only returned from groin surgery one month ago, but his recovery has since suffered a minor setback.

Arteta responded “not yet” when asked if Smith Rowe is available.

Arteta stated that the club had yet to decide whether Thomas Partey would take part.

The Ghanaian international was replaced at halftime of the 1-0 loss to Manchester City due to a rib injury.

When asked about Partey, Arteta said: “Let’s see, that one is still a doubt.

“Let’s see today how he comes in and if he’s able to train with the team today or not and then we’ll make a decision.

“He’s not ruled out and it’s nothing very significant but it was significant enough to get him out of the game [at the Etihad] which for Thomas is a bit unusual. Hopefully, he will be fine.”
