Bukayo Saka has generously paid for the life-changing surgery of 120 Nigerian children.

The Arsenal star has joined forces with the charity BigShoe to assist youngsters in Kano, Nigeria’s second-largest city, who suffer from hernias and brain tumors.

BigShoe is a charity that provides financial assistance to disadvantaged children in need of medical care. Former Chelsea player Antonio Rudiger previously assisted the organization by donating his World Cup bonus to pay for surgery in Sierra Leone.

The 21-year-old was born in London, although his parents were both raised in Nigeria before relocating to England.

Saka stated that he feels ‘fortunate’ to be able to help individuals in need in Nigeria, as all 120 procedures were conducted successfully last month.

The surgery is offered by BigShoe, an organization that provides financial assistance to needy children who require surgery.

He said: “I feel blessed to be in a position where I can contribute to making the children’s lives easier and better through these surgeries.

“I still feel very connected to Nigeria.

“For me, it is very important to use my abilities to have a positive impact where I can and I have to say a big thank you to the whole BigShoe team for making this possible.

“For me it is important that every child has the same opportunity to achieve their dreams.

“If I can do anything to help then I really want to do this, it was very important to me. It makes me happy when I can see the kids happy and their parents happy.

“I want to do more and more and help as many children as I can. This isn’t about me, it is about the 120 children.”
