Arsenal presented chance to sign Saka-esque ‘Hurricane’ in January alongside Mudryk – transfer expert
Tete, a Brazilian winger, has reportedly been offered to Arsenal during the January transfer window.
The Gunners have been linked with bids for Mykhaylo Mudryk of Shakhtar Donetsk and Ferran Torres of FC Barcelona in January, indicating that they want to add a new winger to their forward options.
In addition to Gabriel Jesus’ injury, reports indicate that Emile Smith Rowe will not be available to face West Ham United on Christmas Day, thus Mikel Arteta could benefit from bolstering his attacking options in January to protect for injuries.
Transfer analyst Graeme Bailey reported in his most recent article for 90min that the North Londoners, along with a number of other Premier League clubs, have been offered the option to recruit Tete on loan in January, with a view to a permanent transfer.
The winger is legally tied to Shakhtar Donetsk, like Mudryk, but has spent the last six months at Lyon due to FIFA’s suspension of all foreign players’ contracts in Ukraine as a result of Russia’s invasion.
Tete was able to continue his career in France because the system was extended through the 2022/23 season.
The 22-year-old’s signature has also been offered to West Ham United, Tottenham Hotspur, and Newcastle United, however it is unknown whether they would be willing to match his demands.
Tete would be a significantly less expensive alternative to Mudryk and Torres, considering that Arsenal would only have to sign him on loan.
Shakhtar CEO Sergei Palkin has encouraged him to become a “big star” after he contributed to 46 goals in 108 games for Shakhtar and 15 goals in 24 games while on loan at Lyon. He is known as ‘Hurricane’ in his native Ukraine.
Tete has a similar playing style to Arsenal and England superstar Bukayo Saka, therefore he might be an interesting addition to Arteta’s team.
