Arsenal News: Arsenal issues official injury update of the squad

Arsenal fans will have been waiting for news on players such as Thomas Partey and Kieran Tierney, and the club has now issued an official update.

The Ghana international was pictured injuring himself against Crystal Palace last night, resulting in a 3-0 defeat, with Partey being substituted by Lokonga with about 15 minutes remaining.

After worsening his previous injury, the club has now announced that they are monitoring his thigh injury before making a judgment on his readiness for the weekend’s match against Brighton.

Tierney was a significant absence from the squad for Monday’s defeat, which we felt particularly hard when the inexperienced Nuno Tavares failed to produce.

The Scot is also unlikely to be available in the immediate future, with Arsenal confirming that he requires surgery on his left knee after meeting with a specialist today.

While no particular timetable was given, the official release did mention that he will most likely miss the rest of the campaign.

Takehiro Tomiyasu was also absent versus Palace, and the latest news is that he is expected to return to full training in two weeks after suffering a calf injury.

Nicolas Pepe was also absent from the most recent match, but as previously indicated, all other players are fit and available.

After our side’s performance on Monday, the manager will have some serious thinking to do, with several players’ performances failing to make the grade, and it may even be worth considering a formation change to ensure we can get our push to finish inside the top four back on track.
