Arsenal makes a ‘complicated’ midfield decision, as Bernardo Silva sends a revealing transfer message
Arsenal increased their summer signing total to four on Monday with the arrival of Gabriel Jesus from Manchester City in a £45 million deal.
He joins Matt Turner, Fabio Vieira, and Marquinhos at the club ahead of the 2022-23 season, although more are expected to join.
Mikel Arteta is anxious to add depth to his squad, so look for more news on reinforcements throughout the roster.
Today’s news includes developments in the pursuit of Youri Tielemans, a new midfield target, and Lisandro Martinez, as well as a decision from Bernardo Silva.
With that in mind,SportsDias examines the day’s top stories.
Arsenal prioritising on Youri Tielemans transfer
Youri Tielemans has long been a target for Arsenal, and a transfer might be completed this summer, as the Belgian enters the final year of his contract.
A fresh target has surfaced in the form of Sergej Milinkovic-Savic, but the Leicester City man is said to be the first priority.
Transfer guru Fabrizio Romano discusses Arsenal’s search for a new midfielder and Milinkovi-Savi on the Que Golazo Podcast.
Romano said: “I see some of these names mentioned. Milinković-Savić is always mentioned in the Italian press, but Lazio want €75-80million for Milinković-Savić, so it is a really complicated one. I am sure that Tielemans is a good opportunity because he is out of contract next summer. He is not extending his Leicester contract, so this is why Arsenal are exploring that possibility more than Milinkovic-Savic today.”
Bernardo Silva verdict
On Monday, Arsenal had a busy day as Gabriel Jesus was finally revealed as a Gunner.
After falling down the Man City pecking order last season, the 25-year-old has joined on a £45 million deal to fill the vacuum left by Alexandre Lacazette in attack.
That is not to imply he was unappreciated at the Etihad.
Following the announcement of the contract, Benardo Silva turned to Twitter to heap admiration on the Brazilian, writing: “What a player and what a guy! A true warrior in the good and bad moments.”
Lisandro Martinez fight
Lisandro Martinez could become the Gunners next transfer priority with Arteta, an admirer of the Ajax ace.
According to Fabrizio Romano, Arsenal are still interested in getting him, but Manchester United have made him a priority signing.
On Twitter, Romano stated: “Lisandro Martínez, back in Holland today – he’s been very clear with Ajax telling the club that he only wants to leave to try his first Premier League experience. Manchester United are pushing as ten Hag wants Lisandro as a priority – Arsenal, still there fighting.”
