Arsenal keeping tabs on “world class” Liverpool star – he could join in the summer
According to reports, Arsenal is monitoring Naby Keita and may attempt to sign the midfielder on a free transfer next summer.
Due to a series of injuries, Keita has yet to make a debut for Jurgen Klopp’s squad this season. Keita excelled for Liverpool at the end of last season.
A number of Premier League clubs have expressed interest in signing the Guinean international on a free transfer next summer, when Keita’s contract expires.
According to a recent report from 90min, Arsenal are monitoring Keita, while Tottenham and Chelsea are also monitoring the midfielder’s situation with the intention of signing him next summer.
Keita moved to Liverpool from RB Leipzig in the summer of 2018 for $52.75 million, but his time at Anfield has been marred by issues.
According to the report, Keita’s representatives urged Liverpool to sign their client to a new contract before the summer transfer window closed.
When a new contract did not materialize, Keita reportedly informed the Reds hierarchy that he was dissatisfied with his situation at Anfield.
During his four years in England, the midfielder has shown flashes of brilliance and was once described as “world-class” by Liverpool teammate Virgil Van Dijk.
Van Dijk stated to Liverpoolfc.com in 2020, “Naby is a fantastic guy. He works so hard and he is an outstanding football player.
“We see it week in week out.”
The centre-back added: “I think he is world class, if I’m absolutely honest. I see all the moments when he has the ball, the smart moves, the smart intelligence.
“It’s just incredible to see”.
Supposedly, clubs from Germany, Italy, Spain, and France have also expressed interest in Keita.
Should he choose to leave the Premier League to play abroad, he could negotiate a free transfer beginning in January.
