Arsenal handed massive boost by Champions League draw outcome
The draw for the Champions League has not been in Manchester City’s favor, and this could potentially benefit Arsenal.
On Friday morning, UEFA conducted the draw for the Champions League quarter-final, semi-final, and final rounds, and it turned out to be quite unfavorable for Manchester City.
In the quarter-finals, they will face a tough opponent, Bayern Munich, and in the semi-finals, they will have to contend with either Chelsea or Real Madrid, depending on who emerges victorious.
Given their dominant performance against RB Leipzig in the previous round, City is unlikely to have it as easy in their upcoming Champions League fixtures, which could be beneficial for Arsenal.
Since City’s Champions League matches are scheduled in between their Premier League fixtures, Guardiola may have to make some changes and rotate his squad between the two competitions. Let’s take a closer look at the relevant sections of their fixture list.
Champions League Quarter-final
- Sunday, 9th April: Southampton vs Manchester City
- Tuesday/Wednesday, 11/12th April: Manchester City vs Bayern
- Sunday, 16th April: Manchester City vs Leicester City
- Tuesday/Wednesday, 18/19th April: Bayern vs Manchester City
- Sunday, 23rd April: Brighton vs Manchester City
Champions League Semi-final

- Saturday, 13th May: Everton vs Manchester City
- Tuesday/Wednesday, 16/17th May: Semi-final 2nd leg (home)
- Saturday, 20th May: Manchester City vs Chelsea
Arsenal’s exit from the Europa League implies that they will have those midweeks off, which could be beneficial for them. Although it is disappointing to be eliminated from the competition, it will allow the team to concentrate and focus on other important matches.
