Arsenal enters the race for “very dangerous” £36m-rated magician, pairing with Saka will make defenders shiver
Arsenal has entered a bidding war for Real Madrid winger Marco Asensio.
According to Spanish publication AS, Arsenal is one of several clubs interested in signing him.
A few of Italian clubs have also been mentioned as possible bidders, with Juventus and Milan offering Champions League football that Arsenal cannot.
However, as “a great supporter of the operation,” Mikel Arteta may be able to entice his compatriot to the Emirates.
Bukayo Saka’s dynamism and young zeal have rapidly established him as a fan favourite in north London.
If Arteta can persuade this Real Madrid player to join him, it may be a terrifying scenario for Premier League defences.
Asensio is a man for big moments, having scored in Los Blancos’ 2017 Champions League final victory.
Many believe he has yet to live up to his enormous potential, and a change of location and far less pressure may allow him to thrive.
Despite this, he had a good season, scoring 10 goals in the league. This is also not the whole picture, as he still had a 7.07 average SofaScore rating last term.
This, paired with Saka’s 18 top-flight goal contributions, highlights a strong threat from wide.

With the predicted goals of the arriving Gabriel Jesus, Arteta appears to be forming a frightening front line.
His performances for Spain appear to be improving as well, which could be attributed to the great pressure of being a Real Madrid player.
In the UEFA Nations League, he has a 7.27 SofaScore rating for his national side.
Carlo Ancelotti has been a loud supporter of the £36 million-rated maestro, saying of his recent performances: “Asensio was able to move between the lines and with the finishing ability that he has, he is a danger for our rivals.
“He has got a good shot, he is able to combine with other players and I hope he can score three goals in our next game.”
The Italian manager was especially impressed by his versatility, mentioning his ability to enter from the right: “when he moves inside, he has the ball on his left foot and he is very dangerous.”
Saka and Asensio working together might help both of them reach their full potential, and with the latter still having much to give the footballing world, it would be a waste not to explore opportunities outside of Madrid and, perhaps, accelerate his career.
