Arsenal considering swapping their defender with Inter Milan for Denzel Dumfries
According to reports, Arsenal is willing to swap Takehiro Tomiyasu for Inter Milan’s Denzel Dumfries.
Dumfries had a pivotal part in the Netherlands’ 3-0 triumph against the United States in the World Cup quarterfinals, scoring once and assisting on two goals.
A number of clubs, notably Arsenal, Chelsea, and Tottenham Hotspur, have taken notice of his performances for Inter and the Netherlands.
According to Football London, Arsenal could include Tomiyasu in any deal with Inter as the Gunners want to capture Dumfries before their rivals.
Arsenal are reportedly willing to fulfill Inter’s €40m (£34.5m) asking price and transfer Tomiyasu in the opposite direction.
The Japan international has contributed two assists during his 39 appearances for Arsenal since joining the club in August 2021 from Bologna, while Dumfries has recorded seven goals and 10 assists in 65 matches for Inter.
Dumfries had previously been linked with a move to Manchester United, and it is reported that Real Madrid is also interested.
The inclusion of Tomiyasu is puzzling given that the 24-year-old has been a mainstay in the Arsenal first squad this season, making 17 appearances across all competitions.
Tomiyasu played right-back in his first season, but has primarily played left-back in the previous few months due to Oleksandr Zinchenko and Kieran Tierney’s injuries, which have kept them out of the lineup.
