Arsenal bid ‘rejected out of hand’ as £50m winger favors Chelsea transfer
Leeds United are set to reject Arsenal’s initial bid for Raphinha, who prefers to join Chelsea, according to reports.
The Gunners completed a £34 million deal for Fabio Vieira on Tuesday and are now looking to sign Raphinha
Arsenal will face stiff competition from Barcelona, Chelsea, and Tottenham for the 25-year-old.
According to The Athletic, Arsenal has made a formal offer for Raphinha, but it is expected to be ‘rejected out of hand’ by Leeds since it falls far short of their valuation.
According to the report, if he decides to stay in the Premier League, the Brazil international would prefer a move to Chelsea.
Raphinha’s preferred destination is Barcelona, but despite having previously agreed personal terms with the winger, the Spanish club is limited by resources and is looking to sell players first.
Raphinha, who joined Leeds from Rennes in a £17 million transfer in 2020, has two years left on his current term.
Leeds are believed to be demanding a sum of £50 million for the Brazil international.
Raphinha was Leeds’ standout performer last season, with 11 goals helping the team avoid relegation from the Premier League.
If Leeds had dropped to the Championship this summer, the winger would have been available for £30 million.
