Arsenal and Chelsea expected to spend heavily on Transfer Deadline Day amid Danilo, Alvarez and Sangare

As a result of recent injuries, the Gunners and Chelsea will be extremely active in their attempts to acquire at least one new midfielder.

Arsenal, Chelsea, and Tottenham will all be active in terms of incoming and leaving transfers, with each club needing different things due to injuries and the resulting impact on squad depth.

The Gunners want to add a new midfielder and wide player, but Chelsea wants the same but with a new striker in place of the wide player.

“The club has been super supportive to keep improving the squad and the team as we can,” he said. “If the right player is available and we can do it, we will try,” manager Mikel Arteta said on his side’s plans on Transfer Deadline Day after the Aston Villa win over Wednesday night.

Spurs are anticipated to be the least aggressive of the three clubs in their pursuit of a wing-back replacement, with Lucas Moura expected to be offered the opportunity to play more first-team games away from North London if a transfer to Aston Villa materializes.

Taking all of this into account, SportsSDias compiles the most recent transfer rumors circulating prior to today’s final knockout matches.

Arsenal and Chelsea set t

o spend big on new midfield signings

Each team requires at least one additional midfielder to address their individual injury issues.

The circumstances surrounding Mohamed Elneny and Thomas Partey have motivated Edu to explore last-minute transfers for Arsenal.

They have been linked to Danilo and Youri Tielemans, but it remains to be seen who they sign.

“[Elneny’s injury] changes things because Thomas is also injured. We are looking at options in the market and to see if the right opportunity comes up,” Arteta said in his post-match presser.

In West London, N’Golo Kante’s injury has led to a decline in form since the draw with Tottenham, with the recent setback against Southampton highlighting the need for immediate action.

One of Edson Alvarez, Ibrahim Sangare, or Frenkie de Jong is anticipated to be sought in retaliation.

Cody Gakpo problem

As we approach the final day of the summer transfer market, Tottenham can have the last laugh over Arsenal.

BBC Radio Solent (local Southampton station) has reported that Southampton have ‘agreed’ a fee for the 23-year-old Dutch prospect, but the Athletic’s David Ornstein has declared the transfer race to be open, with Leeds United now hot on the heels of a left winger who scored twice for PSV in their Eredivisie match against FC Volendam.

Ornstein tweeted: ‘Cody Gakpo race open. Leeds United / Southampton / lucrative new deal at PSV Eindhoven. No issue for Saints on a fee or personal terms. LUFC is interested if Dan James leaves. Fresh PSV terms strong option.’

Tottenham are expected to go all out for James in the final twenty-four hours of the transfer window, while Aston Villa are eager to poach Lucas Moura.

If the former Manchester United player was to become Antonio Conte’s eighth new summer signing, Leeds would go all out for Gakpo as a replacement, ruining Arsenal’s slim transfer chances on Deadline Day.

Dream midfield with Danilo and Tielemans signed

Partey would be replaced by Leicester’s number eight since a midfield duo cannot be established with a player who has a history of minor injuries.

Granit Xhaka would be the 25-year-midfield old’s partner. Mikel Arteta’s midfield foundations of the future will include players like Albert Sambi-Lokonga and Danilo. Mohamed Elneny would be a useful rotation player.

Danilo would likely need to be loaned back to Palmeiras in 2022/23, as the Brazilian Serie A champions would not want to lose the 21-year-old during a title bid.

Elneny, Lokonga, and Partey would be the alternatives in this case, as Ainsley Maitland-Niles is also anticipated to miss the game.

Arsenal’s midfield two behind Saka, Odegaard and Martinelli: Youri Tielemans and Granit Xhaka.

Substitute options for the remainder of 2022/23: Thomas Partey, Mohamed Elneny and Albert Sambi-Lokonga.
