Arsenal already has their own Kylian Mbappe as Edu is putting in a strong effort to secure a key contract extension

Bukayo Saka was outstanding for Arsenal at the beginning of the 2022-2023 season, playing a significant role in the Gunners’ early title bid.

His contribution to the team was exemplified by his selection and use as a starter for England at the 2022 World Cup.

The Englishman was regarded as one of the club’s most valuable assets at the end of last season, and his importance to the team has been highlighted by his impressive statistics this year. This season, the winger has matched Kylian Mbappe’s level of attacking intent.

This season, Saka has recorded 98 progressive carries in the league. This is the third-most of any player in Europe’s top five leagues, as he is tied with Mbappe for third place, while Vinicius Jr leads the list with 126 progressive carries.

Arsenal is exerting significant effort to sign Saka to a new long-term contract.

The Gunners have activated a one-year extension option in his contract, extending his stay until 2024 at the earliest, while negotiations for a new contract are progressing favorably.

In August, following Arsenal’s 3-0 victory over Bournemouth, Saka became the second-youngest player to reach 100 Premier League appearances, behind only Cesc Fabregas.

The academy graduate is also in the top five for appearances made for Arsenal before turning 20, surpassing Arsenal legends such as David Rocastle and Liam Brady, and Mikel Arteta has used him more than any other player since he took over as manager in 2019, demonstrating his importance to the team.

Saka’s seven goals this season demonstrate why he is regarded as one of the Premier League’s most dangerous wingers, given that he matches Mbappe’s offensive prowess.

If he continues to match Mbappe’s statistics, it is certain that he will score more goals.
