Andros Townsend mocks Cristiano Ronaldo’s celebration after scoring against Manchester United
Andros Townsend equalized against Manchester United on Saturday, then mocked Cristiano Ronaldo’s iconic celebration at Old Trafford.
Anthony Martial’s first-half goal was cancelled out by Townsend, who finished off a nice counter-attacking move for the visitors.
Townsend ran to the corner flag and imitated Ronaldo’s ‘Siu’ celebration in front of the United fans after slotting the ball into the far corner with his weaker foot.
Everton and United both had chances to win the game after that, but it was Yerry Mina who came the closest. The Colombian defender had the ball in the back of the net when VAR ruled that it was offside.

Townsend’s cheeky move comes just a few weeks after Jesse Lingard imitated the same celebration after scoring a goal for England.
Ronaldo did not start the game and was very quiet when he came on. He did show some individual brilliance in the opposition box when he flicked the ball to Jadon Sancho, whose shot was extremely tame and easily saved by Jordan Pickford.
This underwhelming United performance will put more pressure on Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, especially given his controversial starting XI.
Before the game, Sky Sports pundit Paul Merson said he was “shocked” by Solskjaer’s team selection and that he didn’t see it working.
🗣”Shocks me. I don’t see it clicking today.”

Everton, meanwhile, will be relieved to have earned a point on the road despite the absence of their two starting strikers, Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Richarlison, as well as club captain Seamus Coleman.
Rafa Benitez’s side is now joint top of the Premier League, trailing only Manchester United and Liverpool on goal difference. He’ll be hoping that his team is fully recovered from the international break and that they can push on even further.
