‘Almost impossible to say no ‘: Sky Sports expert issues more bad news for Arsenal and Chelsea

Tim Vickery, a South American football analyst for Sky Sports, has placed new doubt on Raphinha’s probable move to Arsenal or Chelsea.

Arsenal has been tracking the ‘unbelievable’ Brazilian all summer, but Chelsea has just entered the race and was thought to be close to a deal just last week.

However, Barcelona remains in the background, and it has been generally stated that Raphinha prefers to go there.

And, according to Vickery, it is exactly what Raphinha is waiting for, causing Chelsea and Arsenal to be delayed.

“I think the one he wants is Barcelona – that’s the one he’s waiting on and that’s why there’s a delay here. He’s waiting to see if Barcelona can get their finances together to pull this one off,” Vickery told Sky Sports News.

“If you’re a Brazilian, it’s almost impossible to say no to Barcelona, especially, coincidentally, if your name starts with an R. What a line of players he’d be putting himself in if he can go to Barcelona. Remember who his agent is – Deco, who didn’t enjoy his time in London on or off the field. He told the Brazilian media at the time that he thought London was a city to visit and not a city to live in. So Raphinha has also got Deco in his ear saying he loved Barcelona and didn’t like London so much.”

Vickery’s remarks are consistent with what was reported yesterday night from Spain.

Raphinha, according to Barca president Joan Laporta, wants to sign with the club.

And as time passes, you’d have to say that’s looking more and more likely.

Chelsea and Arsenal are both frustrated by this result. Even if they do sign Raphinha, there will be a sense that they have a player who does not want to be there.

This week could be critical for this transaction, as both English teams could walk away.
