“All people at Chelsea know,” Fabrizio Romano delivers insight into what’s going wrong at Chelsea
Yesterday, in the final round of Premier League games before the World Cup, Chelsea’s terrible run of play continued with a 1-0 loss away to Newcastle United.
It’s hardly the start the club was hoping for when they took the brave decision earlier this season to replace the popular and experienced Thomas Tuchel with Graham Potter.
The Blues are currently winless in their last five league games and have suffered three consecutive defeats in all competitions. It appears that Potter is finding the transition to coaching a team like Chelsea to be a difficult one.
Romano argued in his exclusive CaughtOffside column that it shouldn’t come as much of a surprise that this new Chelsea initiative is taking some time to get off the ground.
Since Todd Boehly purchased the club earlier this year, there have been numerous changes in various sections at the west London giants.
Romano, discussing Chelsea’s tribulations, stated: “Another poor result and performance for Chelsea yesterday, but I wouldn’t rush to conclusions about this new project just yet.
“All people at Chelsea know that this will take time. It takes time to bring in new ideas, new manager, new methods, and of course the new directors who will join the club in 2023… it’s part of the rebuilding.
“Everything is new at Chelsea, we’re only a few months into this new era. I think this World Cup break comes at a good time for them. It’s an opportunity to re-start, understand the new vision, and work hard for it.”
