Alejandro Garnacho aims dig at Erik ten Hag after disappointing Leeds draw
Following Wednesday night’s 2-2 draw with Leeds, Manchester United’s Alejandro Garnacho went on a social media liking spree.
The Argentine appears dissatisfied with Erik ten Hag following the competition. The 18-year-old and his teammates can view the game as a loss of two points rather than a gain of one.
United’s hopes of finishing in the top four were dashed Wednesday night when Leeds held them to a draw at Old Trafford.
Wilfried Gnonto gave the visitors the lead with a hard, near-post shot that beat David De Gea.
Then, a Raphael Varane own goal propelled Leeds into dreamland, allowing the away team to dream of an improbable victory.
Fortunately for United, Marcus Rashford and Jadon Sancho scored to salvage a draw and spare the Red Devils’ blushes.
Even so, it was a frustrating night at the office, with Garnacho failing to capitalize on his opportunity after starting in Antony’s absence.
The adolescent was unable to conceal his frustration on social media following the game.
The United star liked a tweet that was critical of several Ten Hag decisions on the night, but has since unliked it.
User @94_zeeshan said: “1. Rashford either plays up front or LW – playing him RW cost us today.
“2. Our midfield depth is a joke – we ended up with Fred and Lindelof in midfield.
“3. Garnacho not ready to be a starter. 4. Sancho looked great – should start against next game. 5. Fred had an absolute shocker.”
In his anger, Garnacho interacted with additional messages on the social media website.
Additionally, the United star liked a tweet from @_Kwame_Jnr that read: “Garnacho is not fit to start premier league games. I’ve seen enough.”
Garnacho appears dissatisfied with Ten Hag’s decision to make him the scapegoat for the game.
By liking a post that emphasizes Rashford, he appears to concur with the assessment that the 25-year-old should remain on the left wing.
In addition, he may believe that his club should sign additional midfielders after using Fred and Victor Lindelof in that position late in the game.
Sunday’s rematch between United and Leeds will present Garnacho with an opportunity to improve.
