Alan Shearer gives his verdict about Man City Harry Kane’s move.
Alan Shearer told Harry Pinero’s UMM YouTube channel that Tottenham striker Harry Kane will ‘absolutely obliterate’ his Premier League record if his perceived and anticipated move to Manchester City materialize.
The Newcastle legend also alleged that if Kane were to swap Tottenham for Manchester City colors then he would cost between ‘£100-150 million’.
Sky Sports have published on Monday afternoon that Manchester City have presented a bid of £100 million for Kane’s talents.
Perhaps this was anticipated given Kane’s urge to go to the next level and those at the Etihad needing an out-and-out number nine after Sergio Aguero’s exit.
Nevertheless, this is what Shearer had to say about Kane possibly swapping Spurs for Man City.
“Do I think he will do it? (break his PL record) He probably will do,” said Shearer. “I have had it for 20 odd years, so it will go one day.
“And if it goes then why not go to him? He’s a nice guy.
“He will absolutely obliterate (my record) if he goes to Manchester City in three or four years.
“Harry will go for anything between £100-150 million, so it will be in and around that.”
Shearer struck 260 Premier League goals during his career and Kane, who is currently on 166, is gradually catching up on the Newcastle and Blackburn legend.
Injuries aside, there’s no logic why Kane shouldn’t have Shearer’s record done and scattered inside the next five years.
That’s 20 goals per season, and even during an injury-hit campaign Kane can score those numbers, so visualize what he’ll do if he remains injury-free and possibly playing for a team winning the title.
But those in the Tottenham boardroom will be expecting he can achieve that feat in their colors and not of away from Hart Lane.
