‘A joke’: Rio Ferdinand blown away by ‘unreal’ Arsenal star’s display vs Palace

Rio Ferdinand revealed on his YouTube channel that Gabriel Jesus was a joke on his Arsenal debut after assisting the Gunners in their Premier League opener against Crystal Palace on Friday.

Mikel Arteta’s team is off to a good start. Goals in each half gave them the three points against a tenacious Palace team.

Jesus did not appear on the scoreboard during the game. But he did give a clear indication of the quality he will bring to the Gunners’ ranks after joining from Manchester City in the summer.

He was electrifying in the first few minutes, producing a couple of magical moments. Certainly, it appears that he will be a key player for Arsenal throughout the season.

Ferdinand is confident that Jesus will be a brilliant signing for Arteta’s men. He praised the Brazilian’s performance, particularly in the early stages of the competition.

“Jesus was a joke, Jesus was unreal first-half. I still want him to be much more of a number nine though. I don’t want him to keep coming back to the play,” he told his YouTube channel.

After striking a deal in the window, Arsenal fans would have been extremely optimistic about Jesus.

Considering he was never the main man at the Etihad Stadium, his record for Manchester City was outstanding.

He appears to be the ideal candidate to lead Arsenal’s offensive line. Few forwards in the Premier League appear to press more effectively than Jesus. And he possesses that characteristic.

It will take some time for Jesus to settle in at the Emirates. However, early indications indicate that bringing him in was a brilliant move.
