A 32 years old fraudster Sharif Mohamed spent more than a month living a luxurious life in Ibiza has been slapped with a 44-month jail term.
Sharif splurged more than £175,000 on a bank card belonging to Riyad Mahrez and spend much of the money on gambling and staying in luxury hotels in London.
Mahrez for five weeks did not notice the spending spree. The Manchester City star earns around £200,000 a week.
He reported the transaction to the authorities on realizing something was a mess. Sharif Mohamed, a fraudster, who works as a Forklift truck driver admitted one count of fraud last month before the court today sentenced him to 44 months jail term.
The Manchester City winger lost an amount totaling £175,830 in 2017 while playing for the Foxes. A person impersonating to be Mahrez had called the Barclays Bank and requested a new card in his name.
Sherif admitted that he was working on behalf of dubious bank staff. However, he failed to back up this allegation with a piece of evidence. To avoid any suspicion, he journeyed from East London to Leicester to withdraw the cash from ATM.
The culprit used £20,000 on partying and buying designer clothes during a holiday tour in Ibiza. He guzzled champagne at stylish beach bars and also splurge into casinos and made self-deprecating outings to KFC, Greggs, and Nando’s.
