“A dream come true” – Player’s first words after Chelsea departure, reveals he desired the move ‘for a long time’
Chelsea are looking for a new center-back in the summer transfer window after Andreas Christensen and Antonio Rüdiger both left Stamford Bridge as free agents.
The former has joined Barcelona, while the latter has finalised a move to Real Madrid, their archrivals.
Barcelona confirmed the 26-year-old’s arrival earlier this week, with the defender participating in a photo shoot wearing the home jersey, followed by a media presentation today.
He will be accompanied by the president of the La Liga club, Joan Laporta, and the sporting director, Mateu Alemany.
The Danish international, who just left Chelsea, revealed that playing for the Catalan club had long been his goal.
“I am very proud. It is a dream that I have had for a long time. I am very grateful to the president, vice president, Mateu and Jordi [Cryuff]. It is a dream come true,” the former Blues man said, as quoted by Mundo Deportivo.
“I’m really looking forward to seeing the fans in the stadium, I can’t wait to get started,” he added.
Christensen has agreed to a four-year contract with Xavi Hernández’s side.
He is the Spanish club’s second signing of the summer transfer season.
After ten years at Chelsea, including two years in the club’s youth, the centre-back will embark on a fresh experience at Camp Nou.
