“A deal is there to be done” – Journalist issues huge Man Utd claim on “amazing” £50m star
According to Daily Express journalist Ryan Taylor, Manchester United might sign Wolverhampton Wanderers star Ruben Neves at Old Trafford as a ‘deal is there to be done at the appropriate price.’
Erik ten Hag has taken over the Red Devils’ dugout and may try to rebuild the team ahead of his debut season in charge.
According to The Sun, Manchester United are about to make a final effort to capture Neves before the transfer market opens next week.
According to the report, the Red Devils have been watching the 26-cap Portugal international for a year and Wolves are likely to allow his departure if a £50 million proposal is made.
Despite the fact that Neves’ current employers have begun negotiations for a new contract at Molineux, he is yet to sign on the written line after drawing interest.
The central midfielder’s current contract, at £58,000 per week, is set to expire in just over a year, which explains why Wolves want to sign him to new terms.
However, due to his uncertain contract status, Barcelona has been considering whether to put the West Midlanders to the test.
Taylor feels Manchester United will be successful in luring Neves to Old Trafford this summer.
The journalist believes the Red Devils will demonstrate their interest in the 25-year-old in the coming weeks.
Taylor told GIVEMESPORT: “I do think a deal is there to be done at the right price. There’s no reason why, if United do actually want to sign him and they’re hell bent on signing him, it can’t happen.
“I think they will truly establish how serious they are about signing him in due course.”
Wolves teammate Jose Sa has praised Neves as ‘amazing,’ and manager Bruno Lage has claimed he is worth £100 million, indicating that people at Molineux believe the Manchester United target is a special talent.
Despite playing primarily in a defensive midfield role, he contributed four goals and two assists in 36 appearances during the 2021/22 season.
According to FBref, Neves finished the season in the 97th and 88th percentiles for switches of play and attempted passes among midfielders per 90 minutes in the Premier League, respectively.
