4-3-3: Predicted Liverpool lineup vs Arsenal as Klopp plan a dream midfield selection
Here’s our predicted Liverpool lineup v Arsenal on Saturday afternoon. The Reds will hope to get back on the winning track at Anfield.
Everything looked remarkably rosy after Liverpool beat Manchester United 5-0 at Old Trafford. The Reds made one incredible title statement there – they just haven’t followed up on it.
They drew 2-2 against Brighton at home before losing 3-2 at West Ham United. Liverpool aren’t exactly falling away (they’re four points from 1st) but they need to start winning again.
That begins with Saturday’s game against Arsenal. The Gunners are in good form, though, while Liverpool have some injuries to deal with. It all means Jurgen Klopp has some big decisions for his lineup.
Defence
Alisson Becker will start in goal, with Trent Alexander-Arnold and Virgil van Dijk likely to follow. Kostas Tsimikas appears to be the clear choice at left-back.
Andy Robertson is reportedly 50/50 for the game, and we don’t think Liverpool should take a chance on him. That puts Tsimikas in line for the most important start of his Reds career.
What about the other center-back? Toss the dice. We don’t know if it will be Joel Matip, Ibrahima Konate, or Joe Gomez. We’re going to guess Matip, but it could be any of them.
Midfield
Fabinho and Jordan Henderson are locks. We anticipate Thiago joining them as well, giving Liverpool their ideal midfield.
It’s not a common sight, but these three midfielders are unquestionably the best at the club. It makes perfect sense to use them as Liverpool looks to dominate the ball against Arsenal.
However, there is a chance that Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain will play. He’s in good shape, but we’ll always doubt Thiago’s fitness. If Liverpool still does not want to risk the Spaniard, the Englishman could come in.
Attack
Roberto Firmino will not play and may not appear until the middle of December. This effectively ensures a front-three of Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mane, and Diogo Jota.
Mane’s fitness was questioned after he suffered an injury while playing for Senegal. He is, however, in training and should begin this one soon.
Predicted Liverpool lineup v Arsenal
GK, Alisson
Defence, Alexander-Arnold – Matip – Van Dijk – Tsimikas
