Tuesday evening at Paris Saint-Champions Germain’s League encounter against Maccabi Haifa, Lionel Messi was at his spectacular best.

At Parc des Princes, the Argentine attacker was named Man of the Match as PSG won 7-2.

Messi scored twice during the evening. He opened the score in the nineteenth minute and added a second goal soon before halftime.

The 35-year-old also contributed two assists, setting up goals by Neymar and Carlos Soler.

In the last five years, Messi has recorded a total of 48 goal contributions (35 goals and 13 assists) in Europe’s biggest cup competition.

But how does that compare to the finest players in the world?

The Pop Foot  has compiled a list of the twenty Champions League players with the most goals and assists over the past five years.

Messi is joined by Cristiano Ronaldo, Kylian Mbappe, Robert Lewandowski, and Karim Benzema in the top 20.

Their list was published prior to Wednesday night’s games, so we’ve updated it as needed.

Despite his Tuesday excellence, Messi finished in fourth place.

He trails PSG teammate Mbappe and Liverpool’s Salah by six goals and Lewandowski by 12 goals.

Barcelona’s elimination from the competition was announced on Wednesday, limiting the Polish striker to just one more opportunity to add to his total this season.

Ronaldo is in the top five despite not participating in the competition this year. His output of 42 goals is matched by Benzema.

Neymar, Firmino, and a pair from Bayern Munich. Mane and Sane complete the top 10 positions.

Haaland is currently ranked eleventh and will very probably enter the top ten during the next several months.

Werner enters the top 20 after scoring in RB Leipzig’s stunning 3-2 victory over Real Madrid on Tuesday.
